Topper defines a transfer cart as an industrial delivery cart that is equipped with a conveyor roller top. The rollers aid in the transport of specific content in a conveyor like manner.
In this case, Topper Industrial had a customer that needed to move, and then transfer a long piece of material down a narrow aisle. This seems simple; however, it was a bit more complicated. The obvious choice would be to pull the material on a cart via way of the short side of the cart. The cart would be created with dimensions for the short side that worked within the narrow aisle width and dimensions for the long side to fit the length of the material. The customer would be able to utilize the narrow aisle easily at this point. However, this is where we find the second part of the problem. When the material was to be delivered to the conveyor it needed to be transferred via way of the long side. In conclusion, a cart being tugged via way of the short side, would not be able to transfer material via way of the long side due to the fact that the cart’s rollers would be rolling in the wrong direction to make this happen
Topper Industrial’s solution was a Tuggable Gravity Roller Transfer Cart with Rotate Base. The cart has rotate base with a roller top. This way the operator of the cart is able to pull the cart via way of the short side to the point of transfer. Once the cart is in position for transfer, the operator is able to manually rotate the cart. The rotation is effortless due to heavy duty sealed precision bearing. The detents automatically locks the rotation at 90 degrees. This secures the rotation top. At this point, he short side of the cart will then line up to manually (gravity) transfer the load where it is expected to be.

The cart is low profile equipped with quad steering and 3” x 8” polyurethane wheels with tapered roller bearings. The carts capacity is 2000# and was designed with a middle walking plank for easy access for the manual transfer.
